JUST RETURNED!!!!

From where? From the Portland, Oregon antique and collectible show at the huge expo center. WOW!!!! What a show it was!!! This show is the largest in the whole northwest. Every possible thing that was ever created on God's green earth was for sale. If you are a collector like me you would have been in "hog heaven". There were vintage toys, jewelry, pottery, figurines, paper parafanalia, furniture, paintings and prints... you name it and someone had it for sale. Did I spend too much money? Of course!!
I found the most wonderful Hummel figure and just couldn't pass it up. I also indulged in a few other trinkets, an old cap gun from the 1950's along with a plastic bag of caps (never opened) to go with the gun. Also found a great old victorian paper weight, and some old cigarette package trading cards. I highly recommend this show so if you can make it to Portland the dates for 2009 are March 7 & 8, July 11 & 12 (this is the biggest one folks!), and October 24 & 25. Admission is $7 and parking is also $7 but well worth it. The place is HUGE and it's hard to see all of the show in one day, so be sure to plan for a weekend of fun. If you need further information let me know.

Junking Is Fun.

I have been collecting and selling vintage toys, and antques for more years than I care to remember. Vintage cars and some of the new Hot Wheels are high on my priority list. I also have a vast collection of vinyl records. Most of my antiques have been acquired by attending auctions, estate sales, and garage sales.
If you have a vintage piece you would like to sell, or learn more about, please leave a comment so that I can respond to you. Also if there is a particular piece you are looking for let me know. I probably have it, and if not, can find one for you.

Happy Dumpster Diving

Welcome to my new blog. I love finding peoples’ junk and reselling it at the shop. It is amazing what some people will throw out or sell for pennies on the dollar. Ever go to an auction and bought the usual box of junk that no one bids on so you get it for 50 cents, only to find an exquisite pearl necklace way at the bottom? This happens more times than not. I hope to give you tips on finding your treasures and maybe even make some money for you. Stay tuned…

Thanks to all the people who donate to thrift stores, they are in a continual state of overflowing junk. Fortunately some of the stuff is weeded out and thrown into the dumpster out back. The dumpsters are full of good stuff at the change of the season, when the old summer clothes are exchanged for winter clothes or vice versa.

Also check out the dumpsters in the back of various craft stores, boutiques, etc. Sometimes items are thrown out because they have a small chip, or a crack. You can easily fix these things, but the stores can not sell them. Maybe all it would take is to put the damaged part up against a wall. Your gain.
